The Story of the Ten Lepers

What does God want to teach us through the story of the ten lepers? They all were healed by Jesus, but only one came back to worship Him.

We don’t know what happened with the rest of them. They all received healing but the one who came back received something more. Jesus told him: “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” That was a knowledge of who Jesus was and that his faith had healed him. It is important to always go to Jesus. What is important here is not only the miracle in itself but knowing Jesus. That was the reason why Jesus performed miracles. Not only to heal people but to show them what was most important – to have faith in Him. That was important for their salvation because this is why He came – to save people.

When discussing godly knowledge, we are not just talking about knowing Greek or theology. That might be important, but the real knowledge of who God is, comes from Him. He conveys it to us. This happens when we personally meet Jesus in our hearts, and He presents Himself to us. Same as it happened to the lepers who came back to worship Him and as it happened to the paralytic standing by the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15)

In the beginning, he didn’t know who had healed him (John 5:13), but later on, Jesus presented Himself to him (John 5:14).

Knowing Him is eternal life.

The Bible is not only a way to learn about God, but it also indicates to us how to go to Him and have life.
